RM44 million for new tourism products in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: The Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry has requested for an additional allocation of RM24,806,400 and RM19,840,000 from the State and Federal Government to allow it to develop new tourism products as well as upgrade those that are already available.

Its Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun said that most of the tourism products will be established at Sabah Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, as well as to implement programmes of departments and agencies under his ministry during the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP).

“I hope this application will be considered for approval,” he said in his winding up speech at the State Assembly sitting yesterday. He also said that under the 9MP, his ministry has been allocated RM44,992,800 by the State Government and another RM93,810,130 from the Federal Government to implement upgrading works on tourism amenities programmes and projects for the period 2006-2010. He cited that four of the 9MP projects have already been completed.
