Horizon Hotel Kota Kinabalu now declared litter-free

Horizon Hotel has been accorded the litter-free status by Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir on 16 October 2012.

According to Madingkir, the recognition of litter-free zones is a strategy of the Anti-Litterbug Campaign to expand the City Hall's vision of 5K Objectives namely, Kebersihan (Cleanliness), Keindahan (Beauty), Keselamatan (Safety), Keteraturan (Orderliness) and Kesejahteraan (Welfare).

There are a total of 72 premises including offices, schools, universities, banks etc, that have been declared as litter-free zones. Horizon Hotel is the 2nd hotel to be declared as litter-free after Palace Hotel.

A litter-free zone means that no litter will be seen anywhere except in the rubbish bin where it should be. It also means that all the employees of these hotels, including the guests, will comply with the rule, that is, to refrain from throwing rubbish or litter anywhere other than in the rubbish bins.

Horizon Hotel also took part in the on-going Use-Less-Plastic-Bag Campaign, bringing the current total number of campaign participants to 266, since its launch on 7 June 2012.
