Changzhou explores tourism cooperation with Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Changzhou in China is willing to open up flight routes to East Malaysia if Changzhou and Sabah establish cooperation in the tourism industry.

Secretary of Changzhou CPC Municipal Committee, Yan Li, said doing so would spur the tourism sector in both places.

Yan said he would be happy to promote tourism information about East Malaysia on available platforms in Changzhou, while at the same time, hoped that Sabah could do so as well to drive tourists to both destinations.

He said this when leading a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Sabah United Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SUCCC) here yesterday. The delegates comprised of government officials and entrepreneurs.

He said the delegation would call on the State Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment to explore collaboration opportunities in tourism.

Yan said the One Belt One Road initiative advocated by the Chinese government is not only aimed to spur development in China, but to seek common development by consolidating the resources of the countries along the Silk Road across both land and sea.

For instance, Yan said the 1,440 kilometres of coastline in Sabah had the advantage for deep sea port developments.
